project results: protection where it counts

  • 01

    RUST SEALED. NO REMOVAL.

Existing rust was coated right over — when InduroPro fully encapsulates rust, it cuts off the moisture and oxygen that drive corrosion, stopping it in its tracks without costly surface prep.

  • 02

    INDUROPRO. FULL MACHINE PROTECTION.

Body panels, boom arm, counterweight, and axle cylinders — every surface coated and sealed against UV fading, edge rust, moisture, and the continued surface degradation that four years of rental cycling had started.

  • 03

    3.5 KITS. FULL COVERAGE.

Three 17oz kits and one 8.5oz kit provided complete coverage on this full-size telescopic boom lift from body to boom tip.

  • 04

    DRAMATIC RESULTS. NO REPAINTING.

The orange went from UV-bleached and chalked to deep, rich, and glossy — without a single coat of paint. That is InduroPro on a surface that still had enough left to restore.

SAME UR LOCATION. DIFFERENT MACHINE. DIFFERENT STORY.

THE XTREME XR1255 IS WHAT INDUROPRO LOOKS LIKE WHEN THE PAINT STILL HAS SOMETHING TO GIVE.

If you read the InduroPro project for the Broderson IC-80 at this same United Rentals location in Houston, you already know what happens when paint has been pushed past the point of restoration. The XR1255 is the other side of that story. Four years of outdoor rental cycling had done real damage to this machine — UV fading, surface pitting, edge rust creeping in at panel corners and fastener points, and the telltale lighter patches where decals had been removed and the paint underneath had been shielded from years of sun exposure. But there was still enough paint left on this machine for InduroPro to work with. And the after photos show exactly what that looks like.

The InduroPro team coated the full machine — body panels, boom arm, counterweight, and axle cylinders — without removing the existing rust first. That is not a shortcut. InduroPro ceramicized epoxy, when applied over rust that is fully encapsulated by the coating, cuts off the moisture and oxygen that rust needs to keep spreading. The rust does not go away. It just stops. And every surface on this XR1255 is now sealed against the UV radiation, moisture, and corrosion that will keep working against unprotected equipment through every rental cycle ahead.

BEFORE APPLICATION. FOUR YEARS OF HOUSTON RENTAL CYCLES.

UV FADING. EDGE RUST. DECAL GHOSTING. THIS IS WHAT FOUR YEARS LOOKS LIKE.

Four years of outdoor exposure in Houston had worked on every surface of the XR1255. The orange paint had UV-bleached and chalked across the body and boom. Edge rust had started forming at panel corners and around fastener points — the spots where moisture gets in first. Substrate pitting had roughened the paint surface on the body panels. And where decals had been removed, the paint underneath was visibly lighter than the surrounding surface, showing exactly how much UV had stripped from the exposed paint over four years.

None of this is unusual for rental equipment at this age. Machines that work hard and live outside age faster than owner-operated equipment. The question for fleet managers is always the same — do you repaint, do you ignore it, or do you seal what is there and stop the damage from going further. Repainting this machine would have meant surface prep, primer, paint, cure time, and days of downtime. InduroPro went on in a single day, over the existing surface, rust and all — and the result is a machine that is sealed, restored, and back on the rental floor.

THE RUST QUESTION. WHY THE TEAM DIDN'T REMOVE IT FIRST.

INDUROPRO CAN COAT RIGHT OVER RUST. HERE'S WHY THAT WORKS.

Rust needs two things to keep spreading — moisture and oxygen. Take those away, and rust stops. That is exactly what happens when InduroPro ceramicized epoxy fully encapsulates a rust-affected surface. The coating bonds to the metal around the rust, seals the substrate pores, and cuts off the moisture and oxygen contact that drives continued oxidation. The rust that was there at application does not go away. But it does stop spreading. For rental fleet operators and equipment managers, that matters because rust removal is labor-intensive, time-consuming, and expensive — and on a machine that needs to get back on the rental floor, that time has a real dollar cost attached to it. The InduroPro team coated the XR1255 right over the existing rust, saved the customer on prep labor, and delivered a fully sealed machine in a single application day. That is the practical case for InduroPro on equipment with existing surface rust.

AFTER APPLICATION, THE FULL MACHINE SEALED AND RESTORED.

HIGH GLOSS INDUROPRO FINISH. EVERY SURFACE PROTECTED.

The after images of the Xtreme XR1255 tell a different story than the Broderson IC-80 from the same location. This machine had enough left in its paint for InduroPro to do what it does best. The orange is deep and rich across every body panel. The boom arm is glossy and sealed from tip to base. The counterweight — bare cast metal that was sitting exposed to Houston humidity and rain — is coated and protected. The axle cylinders next to each wheel, with their exposed metal rod surfaces that rust loves to find first, are sealed under ceramicized epoxy. Four years of UV fading, edge rust, and surface pitting — sealed in a single day without repainting a single panel.

For United Rentals and any rental fleet operation managing high-use lifting equipment, this is what a proper InduroPro application delivers on a machine that still has something to work with. The XR1255 went from faded, pitted, and rusting at the edges to deep, glossy, and protected for the next five years. Three and a half kits. One application day. No repainting. No rust removal. Just InduroPro doing its job on a machine that needed it — and coming out the other side looking like it earned another several years on the rental floor.

INDUROPRO FOR RENTAL BOOM LIFTS. SEAL IT. PROTECT IT. KEEP IT WORKING.

NEW EQUIPMENT IS EXPENSIVE AND HARD TO GET. PROTECT WHAT YOU HAVE.

Buying a new boom lift is not a simple decision right now. Lead times are long, prices are high, and most fleet managers, independent operators, and equipment owners are running their machines longer than they originally planned. That makes protecting what is already on site more important than it has ever been. A machine that gets sealed, maintained, and kept in good surface condition stays in service longer, holds its value better, and costs less over its working life than one that gets ignored until the damage forces a decision.

InduroPro ceramicized epoxy is one of the most straightforward investments you can make in a machine you already own — one application day, one and a half to three and a half kits depending on the machine, and every surface is protected for five years. The Xtreme XR1255 at United Rentals Houston came in faded, pitted, and rusting at the edges. It left sealed, restored, and ready for the next several years on the rental floor. That is what it looks like when you protect what you have instead of waiting for it to get worse.
